I grew up on the south side of Chicago with 8-tracks and had to be in the house when the street lights came on. I was raised in the church, the black church, in particular. My journey of faith is steeped in a strong religious heritage. I serve as an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ with deep roots in the Missionary Baptist Church.
Currently, I serve as an Associate Pastor at Covenant United Church of Christ and as the Executive Director of the Barbara W. Smith Family Life Center, a not-for-profit organization. And, I work in corporate America.
My passion is fueled by helping others as an inspirational leader who believes that privileging the underprivileged creates opportunities for them to flourish. As an ordained minister, my advocacy work in Covenant’s food pantry became my motivation to address issues of justice and mercy in my community.
I am a proud graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. I earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Chicago Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree at McCormick Theological Seminary.
